President/ COO, EnglishCentral Inc.
Brian is an experienced technology professional with over 25 years of experience in bringing new technologies and companies to market. He is currently the President and COO of EnglishCentral a leader in online English education where he leads technology, product, and direct marketing.
Prior to joining EnglishCentral, Brian was CEO of Avenue100 an online education marketing company which was acquired by the Washington Post Company in 2007 and became an operating subsidiary. Prior to Avenue100, Brian was Director of Product Management at ScanSoft (now Nuance Communication) the leader in speech technology. At Nuance Brian led the integration of multiple companies into the Nuance. Brian holds multiple patents in speech technology, Internet search and robotics. He has co-authored technical specifications for the IETF.
Brian holds a B.S, M.S and Ph.D. from MIT.

Lawrence Vernaglia is a partner and health care lawyer with Foley & Lardner LLP and serves as chair of the firm’s Health Care Practice and co-chair of the Health Care Industry Team – named “Health Law Firm of the Year” by U.S. News – Best Lawyers® on the “Best Law Firms” list (2012 – 2014). Mr. Vernaglia represents hospitals, health systems and academic medical centers and a variety of other health care providers. Mr. Vernaglia’s practice involves regulatory and transactional matters, including Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement compliance advice and appeals; mergers, acquisitions and financings; state regulatory issues including licensing, change of ownership, and CoN/DoN; survey/certification appeals; fraud & abuse/Stark law analyses; managed care contracting; and general corporate and business planning in health care. He runs strategic planning programs for senior management and governing boards. He regularly serves as local counsel on health care transactions in New England for multi-state projects.
Partner, Eaglepoint Advisors
Neal is a partner in Eaglepoint Advisors, a management advisory firm specializing in helping companies through strategic transitions. Neal has deep experience with matters which intersect legal and business issues. Neal is highly experienced in intellectual property, international business development and corporate management. He has extensively counseled corporate boards on governance especially with regard to strategic transactions. Most of Neal’s career is in high tech including software and networking. At various points, Neal managed business functions including business development, government relations, IT and human resources in addition to legal and IP departments.
Neal has negotiated and managed complex relationships including joint ventures, technology transfers and business integrations. He was deeply involved in 3Com’s Chinese joint venture with Huawei.
Neal was chief legal and regulatory officer of Skype and was extensively involved in the sale of Skype to Microsoft for $8.5B. Before that, Neal was Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of 3Com where he played a lead role in the sale of 3Com to HP for $3.2B. Neal was also Chief Legal Officer of Polaroid and General Counsel of Lotus Development Corporation.
Converge Venture Partner
Jim has broad and deep experience in the Information Technology Industry with a particular emphasis on enterprise software. He has been an investor in Common Angels for the last 8 years and has been active in the review of opportunities leveraging his expertise in financial management and operations.
Jim has 35 years of operational experience in information technology and enterprise software. In his 30 years at IBM, his experience ranged from large system hardware and software sales, to plant and laboratory financial management, hardware and software pricing models, international field operations, and finally CFO of the Software Group. Upon retiring from IBM, Jim joined CA Technologies as part of their successful turnaround. He was responsible for IT management, worldwide administration, corporate audit, risk management and strategic planning. Jim’s community service involved a three year term on the board of selectman for the town of Hamilton Massachusetts.
Jim holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley.
Founder and CEO, Cutter Associates
Mark was founder and CEO of Cutter Associates, Inc. in 1998 until its sale to private investors in 2012. Cutter Associates provides consulting, research and benchmarking capabilities to asset managers, specifically to improve their investment systems, processes, and data management. Cutter became the investment industry’s largest research provider with over 200 member firms across the globe, including asset managers, hedge funds, private equity funds, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds. CutterConsulting is widely recognized as the market leader for systems selection, strategy and implementations. Cutter’s benchmarking assesses a firm’s operational capabilities and has been used by over 150 firms.
As a Principal at Financial Management Systems (provider of portfolio management software and services to investment firms) Mark helped drive a turnaround and established FMS as a market leader.
He also founded Media Solutions which provided electronic storage solutions and real-time spreadsheets for financial institutions. The company was sold in 1997.
Mark has a BA from Miami University and an MBA from The Tuck School at Dartmouth College.
Chief Strategy Officer, Fiksu
Craig Palli is a seasoned inventor and entrepreneur with a particular knack for creating client focused marketing and business development strategies for technology companies of all sizes, in all stages of growth – from inception to IPO or acquisition. Currently as Chief Strategy Officer at Fiksu, Craig leads worldwide Marketing, Business Development and Client Services efforts for Fiksu’s award winning mobile app marketing platform.
Craig’s insight and quick wit make him a popular speaker at industry events as well as a trusted go-to source for the trade and business press. His commentary has been featured in news outlets such as TechCrunch, GigaOM, Forbes, Fast Company and Reuters.
Before Fiksu, Craig was founder and CEO of Torrent, Inc., a manufacturer of patent-rich and ecologically friendly consumer electronics products. Previously, Craig held senior management roles at DirectoryM, Inc., a premier online advertising network for small businesses, and ValueClick, Inc., one of the world’s largest integrated online marketing companies. In addition, he helped grow Be-Free Inc. from a start-up with six customers to a $3 billion market cap before its acquisition by ValueClick. Craig graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with dual majors in economics and industrial management, and holds a MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College.
Founding CEO Acquia
Jay is driven by helping build tech businesses that build products that users love and are passionate about. He has done this both as a serial founder and active mentor / investor.
He was co-founder and founding CEO of Pingtel, Plum Canary, and Acquia. He had varying roles in other startups including Cayman Systems, ON Technology, and even Forrester Research when it was a small and growing analyst firm. He’s had roles from developer to product manager to VP of Engineering to M&A and executive manager in software, SaaS and networking technology companies.
Jay currently spends his time as an active angel, board member, and mentor in the Boston tech community, working closely with TechStars, MassChallenge, other incubators / accelerators, and other amazing entrepreneurs seeking to build their own businesses.
Managing Partner, KBT Partners
Michael is managing partner of Knowledge Based Transactions (KBT), a healthcare technology advisory firm based in Boston. KBT provides merger and acquisition, alliance, and strategic consulting services to healthcare technology firms. He was previously Executive Vice President of Eclipsys Corporation (ECLP). At Eclipsys, he was responsible for all of the company’s corporate development activity including mergers and acquisitions, alliances, product strategy, and new business development. As a key member of the executive team, he had a key role in bringing the company public, and growing the company to a billion dollar plus major player in the Healthcare Information Technology arena.
Prior to Eclipsys, Michael was the CEO of SDK Healthcare Information Systems. SDK was founded in 1961 as the first company in healthcare computing. SDK provided industry leading revenue cycle systems to major hospitals across the country. In 1997, the company was one of two companies merged to form Eclipsys Corporation.
He is on the national council of Washington University in St Louis and serves on the advisory board of the Health Sector Management program of the Graduate School of Management at Boston University. He serves on the board of several early stage Healthcare technology companies and venture capital firms.
He holds a BA and an MBA from Boston University and an MSW in social policy and administration from Washington University in St Louis.
Entrepreneur, CEO & Investor
Martin is a high tech entrepreneur, having founded and led several successful companies centered around innovation, market making, wireless, mobile and enterprise applications. Currently founder and CEO of Nouvoyage, a company bringing next generation amphibious vehicles to several markets. Previously the Founder and CEO at both Maestro and Revolabs which recently was acquired by Yamaha. Martin was responsible for both product and business concepts, business development, sales, marketing, brand building, public relations, growing the organization, specifying and developing the products, R&D, engineering, IP, manufacturing, quality, customer service and training, and providing the overall vision and leadership both internally and with external partners. Martin was the primary interface with the media, investors, responsible for capital raises and strategic business planning. Martin also enjoys mentoring young entrepreneurs in high tech and charitable organizations with the same visionary leadership and inspired product innovation that has brought great success over the years. Martin holds BSEE and MSEE degrees from the University of Massachusetts and attended the MIT Sloan Business School’s Greater Boston Executive Program.
US Country Director, Sonos
Andy has over 20 years in developing a deep understanding of consumer and retail businesses internationally. Currently, Andy is the US Country Director, for Sonos.
Prior to Sonos, Andy led the retail consumer business for Microsoft as the Regional Director for retail sales, marketing, & services in Australia and New Zealand. At Microsoft, Andy also managed US based teams where he was a marketing leader for Xbox & the Xbox LIVE platform. Andy was responsible for creating and delivering strategic corporate solutions whereas he and the team merged Microsoft’s consumer product portfolio with Microsoft’s enterprise partner network. Andy was also responsible for the Microsoft consumer business with partners including Best Buy, Target, Wal*Mart and GameStop.
Andy also has participated in several boards including The Boys & Girls Club of America and Social Venture Partners in Seattle. He is an active business adviser for consumer & technology companies in the Cambridge and Boston area.

Henry Ancona serves as board member, advisor, business leader, and angel investor to technology companies. He has served on the Board of Directors of both private and public companies, helping several to successful M&A transactions. He currently serves on the Boards of Blueconic and Signiant (Chairman). Past private boards include EZPrints (acquired), Visible Measures, Sentillion (acquired), Qumas (acquired), Active Endpoints (acquired) and Inframetrics (acquired). Past publicly traded boards include Pegasystems, Computervision (acquired), and OneSource Information Services (acquired).
With a focus on strategic business development and leadership development to achieve growth and profitability, Henry serves as Executive Advisor to technology companies and CEOs. These include companies in software, on-line media, consumer internet, security, and other businesses. Henry holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and BS and MS degrees from MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
President and Co-Founder, Family Law Software
Dan is President and Co-Founder of Family Law Software, the nationwide top-selling financial software product for family law attorneys, mediators and financial professionals.
Prior to co-founding Family Law Software, Dan founded the company that created and developed the TaxCut income tax software (now called H&R Block At Home). In 1993, Dan’s company was acquired by H&R Block, and since then this software has been H&R Block’s consumer tax software. H&R Block’s consumer software is the #2 selling personal computer income tax software nationwide, and millions of people use it each year to prepare their income taxes.
Dan graduated from Harvard Law School (JD 1982), from Harvard Business School (MBA 1982), and from Yale University, summa cum laude with a B.A. in Economics (1978). Upon his graduation from Yale, Dan received the Louis F. Laun prize, awarded to the top student in the Economics department.
Founder and CEO, Nadastra
Tushara is a global leader and entrepreneur with 25+ years of broad and deep experience in the information technology industry with an emphasis on enterprise software development, scaling and growing global companies, and customer focus and value.
In 2006, Tushara founded Nadastra, a knowledge driven global services company, and has served as CEO since inception. In 1996, Tushara co-founded Virtusa Corporation and served as Executive Vice President of Global Technical Operations. Virtusa is a public company and a global provider of software development and IT services. In 2006, Tushara assumed an advisory role and remains a key shareholder.
Tushara holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics (1988) and received an Honorary Degree of Doctor of the University (2015) from Loughborough University (UK), and is a 2015 Advanced Leadership Fellow, Harvard University, MA.
John is a 40-year veteran of the software business who has served as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Software Executive at such industry leaders as Lotus Development (acquired by IBM), Dun & Bradstreet Software, Cullinet Software (acquired by CA) and McCormack & Dodge (acquired by Dun & Bradstreet). He has served on the Board of Directors of 10 public and 33 private companies and currently serves as a director of Sonian and of Converge Venture Partners’ investments Wespire and Tesora.
Following IBM’s acquisition of Lotus in 1995, John was appointed IBM’s VP Technology Strategy by IBM CEO Lou Gertsner and tasked with developing and implementing IBM’s entire internet/e-business strategy, serving in that role until 1999. Complementing this executive experience at large software companies, he was also Co-Founder/Chairman/CTO of several successful startups including Agility Systems (acquired by Dun & Bradstreet), Narrative Communications (acquired by Excite/AtHome), AnyDay.com (acquired by Palm) and Adjoin Solutions (acquired by CA).
He is a Trustee Emeritus of the Mass Technology Leadership Council, a Mass Hi-Tech All-Star, an Xconomy Xconomist, a TechStars mentor and investor, the past-president of the Information Technology Assoc of America (ITAA) and the American Software Association, and is a past Trustee and Instructor at his alma mater, Babson College. John’s oral history of his role in the creation of the software industry is transcribed and documented in the Computer History Museum.
Steven is Founder and Chairman of First Sarasota Capital Advisors LLC, a start-up wealth management and advisory firm in Sarasota, Fl. He is also the President of SL Consultants Inc. a $45 million private diversified investment fund and venture firm specializing in growing companies in the medical, financial, and high technology fields.
Steven was formally Founder, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, of PolyMedica Corporation for 12 years until his retirement in August 2002. PolyMedica began as a seed start-up and was sold when it had more than $400 million in sales for $1.5 billion to MEDCO. PolyMedica was the leading national provider of direct-to-home specialty medical products and services to Medicare-eligible seniors through its Liberty Medical subsidiaries.
Previously, Steven was President and a Director of Shawmut National Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of a $26 billion regional bank, and directed its venture investments from November 1987 to March 1990. Steven received a B.A., cum laude, from Lehigh University, an M.B.A. from Wharton, and a Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law.
George’s industry experience includes pharmaceuticals, industrial electronics, and consumer package goods, with functional expertise in general management, operations, marketing, and market research. Most recently, George served as a Vice President in Quintiles Consulting’s Market Analytics practice.
After an initial stint in consumer product management at General Foods, George spent 10 years marketing electronic test equipment at Teradyne in Boston. Feeling the need to scratch the entrepreneurial itch, in 1989 George joined Eidetics, a VC-backed startup focused on improving information exchange in the medical world. Over the next 20 years, Eidetics grew to be recognized as the premier market research and consulting firm serving the global biopharma industry. George guided the firm as Managing Partner through its acquisition by Quintiles in 2008.
George earned a BS in Computer Science from MIT, and an MBA from HBS.
Ken was a co-founder of six high-tech companies, together with MIT friends and classmates. Five of these ventures had successful IPOs or mergers; one was a disaster. They included 3Com Corporation, Aspen Technology, Inc., a China Trade Company, a biotech venture, and an expert systems company. Ken was either the CEO or responsible for part or all of the Sales organization in each of these new enterprises.
In the 13 years Ken served as Founding Managing Director of the MIT Entrepreneurship Center (1996 – 2009), the number of students taking Entrepreneurship Courses increased from 220 to 1,600 per year while the number of professors grew from 3 to over 36. He conceived and led the weeklong MIT Entrepreneurship Development Program, which over the past thirteen years trained more than 1,500 global entrepreneurs in an intensive on campus executive education program.
Ken is Visiting Professor at the ESADE Business School. Ken serves on the National Advisory Council on Innovation & Entrepreneurship chaired by Secretary of Commerce for President Obama (Washington) which recently launched “Startup America” and the JOBS Act, among other initiatives. Ken graduated with a BS in Political Science and earned an MBA from HBS.
Independent Health Care Strategy Consultant
Joe currently serves as an independent strategy consultant to healthcare organizations. In 2011, he co-founded Remedy Partners, a company facilitating the evolution from fee-for-service to patient-centered value-based payment models, where he served as an advisor through March of 2015.
Joe began his career in auditing and consulting after obtaining his bachelor’s degree in accountancy and then a master’s degree in computer information services from Bentley. Joe consulted with health care payers on the design and implementation of provider payment systems before accepting the role of Corporate Director of Medical Economics at Healthsource, Inc. a publicly held managed-care company.
At Healthsource, Joe developed systems for the administration of risk-sharing arrangements and provider reimbursement strategies through advanced reporting and analytics. During this time, Joe pursued a Master of Science degree in the Evaluative Clinical Sciences from Dartmouth Medical School and completed his degree after founding Integrated Healthcare Information Services (IHCIS).
Joe started IHCIS on the belief that health care stakeholders would benefit from better information in their efforts to improve health care delivery– a belief he continues to hold today. As CEO, Joe led all aspects of the company’s efforts to develop innovative products and services, form alliances with technology and content partners, and serve a rapidly growing customer base. In 2005, the company was sold to Ingenix, Inc., a segment of UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH). Following the acquisition, Joe served for three years as VP of Ingenix and subsequently as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence.
Joe currently serves on the board of N-of-One, Careport Health, and several non-profit organizations.
Alan has co-founded six companies with the latest being Homeplete.com, a company bringing a cloud-based solution to home management. Prior to Homeplete, Alan co-founded Frame Media, a content delivery company focused on a new wave of connected screens. Prior to Frame Media, Alan co-founded uLocate (later Where.com), a mobile location-based media company, which was sold to Ebay in 2011.
Prior to uLocate, Alan was an EIR at GrandBanks Capital and before that, Alan served as an Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer of ZDNet, where he managed technology and infrastructure and was instrumental in the sale of ZDNet to CNet for $1.4 billion. Alan holds a BA in Economics from Vassar College.
Entrepreneur and Board Advisor
Peter founded Fiberspar in 1987 as a result of undergraduate and graduate studies at MIT between 1980 and 1986. Peter received a Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from MIT in 1985.
Fiberspar initially commercialized high performance composite materials for use in sporting goods applications. Between 1987 and 2000, Fiberspar’s products were used to win twelve consecutive world championships in windsurfing, three consecutive scoring titles in the National Hockey League, and three consecutive America’s Cup yacht races. Between 1993 and 2000, Fiberspar developed a novel high pressure continuous spoolable pipe system using similar fiber reinforced plastic technology which Fiberspar had developed for its high performance sporting goods markets.
In October 2012 Fiberspar Corporation was acquired by a strategic buyer, National Oilwell Varco (NYSE: NOV). Peter served as Fiberspar’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Fiberspar’s Board of Directors from 1987 through the sale to NOV in 2012.
Peter is currently on White Deer Energy’s Board of Advisors and Legacy Measurement Solutions. White Deer Energy is a Houston and New York based private equity firm with $2.2B under management, focused on middle market companies in the North American energy industry. Dallas, Texas based Legacy Measurement Solutions is the leading provider of gas measurement equipment for in field applications in the domestic energy industry.
CEO & Co-founder, Applause
Doron is CEO & Co-Founder of Applause, the leading provider of in-the-wild app testing tools. He has led Applause to numerous honors, including the #8 spot on Forbes’ 2013 list of America’s Most Promising Companies and the #16 spot on the 2012 INC 500. Doron himself was also a finalist for the 2012 Ernst & Young New England Entrepreneur of the Year award.
With more than 25 years experience, Doron has become an internationally recognized expert in software development and testing, as well as startup formation and entrepreneurship. Most recently, he was the CEO and Owner of Re.D Consulting, where he advised enterprise firms on their go-to-market strategies, company direction, and product roadmaps. He assisted early stage startups in raising capital, and provided counsel to VC’s for portfolio companies’ market direction, technology, and management evaluation. Prior to Re.D, Doron was SVP of Technology at Enigma, where he led multi-million dollar software implementations for companies such as Ford, Volvo, and United Airlines, while effectively managing a global team of professional software engineers, testers and project managers.
Board Member, Investor, & Advisor
Peter retired from Longworth Venture Partenrs as a General Parter in 2011 after 9 years there. His previous successful investments include Allaire, Internet Capital Group, Silknet, HTE, Arbinet, WebCT, Watchfire, Parlano, iJET intelligent Risk Systems, Applause (formerly uTest), Waypoint, and Documagix. He has served on 23 boards of directors.
Peter started his career in commercial lending at Bank of Boston with a specialization in High Tech industry. After 10 years in Boston, Peter moved to London as Managing Director of the Bank’s European Private Equity business, BancBoston Capital.
He returned to Boston in 1993 to rebuild its early stage venture capital business and left after Fleet’s acquisition of Bank of Boston, having originated 23 investments generating over 5X returns on capital invested.
Since retiring, he has traveled extensively, obtained his pilot’s license, refurbished historic houses, and became very active as a Board Member and Chairman of the Development Committee at The Dimock Center. Peter received a BA from Southern CT State University and an MBA from The Whittemore School at University of NH.
David is an investor in real estate and private equity in Houston, Texas. He was a partner at the consulting firm Accenture, focusing on clients in the financial services industry. David has been a member of the Houston Angel Network since 2007. David was a founding board member of the $4 million Texas HALO Fund, a sidecar angel fund sponsored by the Houston Angel Network.
David is currently chairman of the Houston Angel Network, and also serves on the board of the Alliance of Texas Angel Networks, an umbrella organization for the Angel networks in Texas.
David graduated from Williams College with bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and American Studies. He and his wife have four children. David is an avid cyclist, and has ridden in the multiple sclerosis charity bike ride from Houston to Austin more times than he can count.
Charles R. Stuckey Jr.
Former Chairman and CEO, RSA Security
Chuck is the retired Chairman of RSA Security and served as the Company’s CEO from January 1987 through December 2000. He also is a Director of TimeTrade Systems and serves on the Ohio University Foundation Board. As the President and CEO of Security Dynamics (later RSA Security and now part of EMC) he led the company from a startup in 1987 through an IPO in 1994, two secondary offerings in 1995 and 1997 and two major acquisitions, RSA Data Security in 1996 and Dynasoft in 1997.
Along the way he built RSA Security into a global leader in e-security with over one quarter billion dollars in revenue and over 1,000 employees. In June of 1996 he became RSA’s Chairman and in January 2000, and turned over the day-to-day operations and CEO responsibilities. Chuck holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Ohio University.
Partner, S&S Investments
Jack is a Partner in S&S Investments, a private equity company that specializes in providing funding and coaching to high tech and life science start-ups. In 1985 he co-founded International Power Sources, an OEM supplier of electronic power supplies, which went public in 2000. He has over 30 years of experience in sales, marketing, and corporate management and has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
Jack is a Board Member of the University of Massachusetts office of Commercial Ventures and Intellectual Property (CVIP) and is President of the Board of the Boston Center for Jewish Culture, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving Boston’s only Jewish historic site.
Founder & CEO, FairwayIQ
Dave is Founder & CEO of FairwayIQ, which collects golf course usage data through smart sensors. As a born entrepreneur, Dave is captivated by all aspects of business from the inception of an idea to operational maturity. He has been working in technology since building and programming his first IBM-compatible PC while still in high school in the early 1980s. Dave was exposed to the early commercialization of the internet in the 1990s while at LabMorgan which was JPMorgan’s investment banking group focused on internet startups.
Dave was a member of the executive leadership team that led a management buyout of Roundarch and established the company as a leading, full service digital agency in North America. Eight years later, in 2012, Roundarch was acquired by Aegis Media and became Isobar in 2014.
He has worked with some of world’s biggest brands to transform and grow their businesses through digital experiences and technology. Prior to joining Isobar, Dave worked for JPMorgan Chase leading large-scale, firm-wide technology transformations.
Principal, Collaborative Seed & Growth Partners
Walt is a Principal in Collaborative Seed and Growth Partners, LLC, an investment firm specializing in the commercialization of early-stage technology. Previously, he was a co-founder and Chairman of SilverPlatter International, NV, a software company providing information services for libraries, which was acquired by the Dutch publishing company Wolters Kluwer in 2001. He graduated from MIT in electrical engineering and from the Harvard Law School.
Founder, Onsett International Corporation
Nina founded Onsett International Corporation, an innovative technology architecture and business management firm, focusing on strategic operation and transformation of enterprise information infrastructure for Fortune 100 corporations. She became the trusted adviser and interlocutor for C-level executives (COO, CIO, CISO, CTO) of major financial services organizations. She also pioneered the Global Secure Network architect role for Citibank.
Prior to founding Onsett International, Nina held several Senior Executive positions at high tech companies and led complex product lines development in telecommunication and networking industries worldwide.

Preston began his professional career at Teradyne after graduating from MIT. Three years later he returned to academia to pursue an MBA at Harvard Business School.
In 1982 Preston started his own company, The LongView Group, a consulting company advising investment management firms on selecting portfolio management systems. Soon he saw an opportunity to develop a front-office trading system for investment managers. He is an Associate in the Dept of Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard and has been on the Visiting Committee of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and is a founding Board member of the New Center for Arts and Culture. He is on the National Board of the American Technion Society, a Board member of the Boston Preservation Alliance and on the Board of Overseers of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston.
He graduated with honors from Harvard College with a degree in Economics, has a Masters in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and has studied at the Harvard School of Education as well as at MIT in photography with Minor White.

Raffi is currently CEO of the Banking Analytics division of Wolters Kluwer Financial Services (WKFS), a natural progression following the sale of PCi, the company he co-founded, to Wolters Kluwer. Under his leadership, PCi has become one of the largest providers of compliance solutions to the financial services industry with over 2500 clients, including 95 of the top 100 institutions in the US.
Prior to co-founding PCi, Raffi was a consultant and investment banker at Kellett Ventures Management and Private Capital Investments where he aided capital-deficient community banks through operations consulting and the recapitalization or sale of the institution.
Born in Beirut and a dual citizen of the US and Lebanon, Raffi completed his college education at the American University of Beirut. His drive and focus were critical as the city was in a war zone during the time of his studies and bombs often interrupted his work. He completed his post graduate education, earning an MBA with distinction at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Brad has been an early stage investor and entrepreneur since 1987. Prior to co-founding Foundry Group, he co-founded Mobius Venture Capital and, prior to that, founded Intensity Ventures. Brad is also a co-founder of TechStars.
In addition to his investing efforts, Brad has been active with several non-profit organizations and currently is chair of the National Center for Women & Information Technology, co-chair of Startup Colorado, and on the board of UP Global. Brad is a nationally recognized speaker on the topics of venture capital investing and entrepreneurship and writes the widely read blogs Feld Thoughts, Startup Revolution, and Ask the VC.

Chip has 30 years of experience in real estate development and investment , working for Trammell Crow Company as a leasing agent and partner for seven years in Philadelphia and Chicago, and in 1992, moving to the investment management side of the real estate business with Harvard Management Company in Boston from 1992 to 1998.
Chip was then one of the founding partners of Charlesbank Capital Partners, a spinout of HMC. In 2004, Chip co-founded BayNorth Capital LLC, a real estate private equity firm. Across these three organizations, Chip developed a very strong investment track record as one of the partners responsible for investing seven real estate funds, comprising approximately $2B of equity.
In 2012, Chip went on his own and formed Lanark Management LLC. His activities include private investing in real estate and mid-sized companies, and re-developing real estate projects in the Boston metro area.
Chip’s prior professional affiliations include the Urban Land Institute, the International Conference of Shopping Centers, and the Pension Real Estate Association. Chip graduated from Bucknell University, cum laude, with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and an MBA from Wharton.
Former COO, Harmonix
Mike brings his entrepreneurial spirit to Converge Venture Partners, where his background in marketing, operations, and product management provides valuable insights into the development and launch of products.
Mike completed his undergraduate studies at MIT. As a student, he very successfully ran the campus film and lecture series, the largest student activity on campus, earning him a “business” reputation. When his friends developed Zork, one of the earliest computer games at the computer game pioneer Infocom, they enlisted Mike to help them out. This marked the beginning of Mike’s long and successful career in gaming. Among his responsibilities at Infocom, Mike dealt with customer issues and, again tapping into his business spirit, saw an opportunity to build paid support services for the game players. While he was at business school at the University of Chicago, the company contracted with him to create the Zork Users Group. Mike published the highly successful New Zork Times mail-order newsletter to sell the game maps and InvisiClues hint booklets he created. After business school, Mike sold his company to Infocom and rejoined them as head of marketing. He launched over forty Top-10 bestsellers, and is particularly proud of championing The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. After Activision’s acquisition of Infocom, Mike pursued a series of startups of his own, first in consumer products, and then in cellular services, before re-entering the computer games business as co-founder and president of Boffo Games.
Eventually, Mike was recruited to Harmonix Music Systems where he served as COO and was responsible for Harmonix’s Finance, Administration, Legal, HR, Business Development and Marketing. Harmonix’s most famous product, Guitar Hero, became a huge hit, earning critical acclaim and breaking the record for the fastest videogame franchise to hit $1 billion in sales (it went on to sell $3 billion). Rock Band, Harmonix’s next franchise, broke this record by hitting $1 billion in sales in just over one year. Mike handled the major deals for the company, including the game publishing contracts, the Chinese manufacturing of all the drums and guitars, and the sale of the company to Viacom for over $700 million, including earnouts, one of the highest prices ever paid for a game developer, yielding the investors up to 220X.

Andy is Managing Partner of American Capital—which he formed in 1988 to make private equity investments in media, telecommunications, and internet information services—and has been or is currently active in both public and private companies as Chairman, CEO, Executive, Board Member, General Partner and Limited Partner.
Andy was formerly a principal in, and served as EVP of American CableSystems. He also was VP Strategic Planning and VP Marketing at GI Communications a division of General Instrument Corporation, now part of Motorola.
Andy is a past Director of Outward Bound Hurricane Island and the Appalachian Mountain Club. In 2008 he was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the AMC and currently sits on several of their committees.
He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program and holds three degrees from the University of New Brunswick.

Jack runs Derby Management, a 25-year-old management consulting firm specializing in strategic planning and in sales and marketing effectiveness for both emerging and middle market businesses. Jack’s prior background included positions as CEO of Mayer Electronics Corporation, President of CB Sports, President of Litton Industries Medical Systems, CEO of Datamedix Corporation and President of Becton Dickinson Medical Systems.
Jack is a Professor of the Practice at Tufts University’s School of Engineering where he teaches a course in Entrepreneurial Sales and Marketing. Jack was named Tufts School of Engineering Teacher of the Year for 2014-2015. He is also a Lecturer at MIT where for 17 years he has taught classes in business planning and in marketing in the Management in Engineering.
Corporately, Jack is a former director of 10 companies, including chairman roles at Beacon Hospice, Earcheck, Pixelvision and Hybricon. Today, he is a director of the Associated Industries of Massachusetts, Accounting Management Solutions, Brainshark Corporation, Rome Snowboards, Reiser Inc. and Chase Corporation.
Edson de Castro
Co-founder & CEO, Data General
Since 1990, Ed has been consulting for companies and participating as a member of certain Boards of Directors. He was formerly a director for Powerhouse Dynamics, one of Converge Venture Partners’ portfolio companies. Ed was one of five co-founders of Data General Corporation in 1968 for which, from 1968 to 1989, he served as its President and Chief Executive Officer, and from 1989 to 1990, he served as its Chairman of the board of directors.
From 1995 to 1997, Ed was the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of directors of Xenometrix, Inc. He was a founder and Executive Committee Member of the Massachusetts High Tech Council. He is also a Trustee Emeritus of Boston University.
Ed received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell in 1960.
CEO, Sample6 Technologies
Tim is currently CEO of Sample6, a biotech company bringing ultra-rapid pathogenic bacteria detection products to the food safety and other markets. Tim is also on the board of Building Engines, a SAAS property management software company, and Powerhouse Dynamics, a SAAS energy management software company. Prior to Sample6, Tim served as CEO of Vela Systems, a Converge Venture Partners portfolio company in field management software company in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry, that was acquired by Autodesk (ADSK) in June 2012.
Prior to joining Vela, Tim served as CEO of Eleven Technology, the leader in next generation mobile field applications for the retail & consumer goods industry. Eleven was successfully acquired by Trimble Navigation (TRMB) in April 2006.
Tim holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Don is a four-time start-up CEO now leading Unidesk, a virtualization software company that radically reduces the cost of Windows application management in the modern, mobile-first era.
Before joining Unidesk, Don was President and CEO of EqualLogic, a data storage systems company that employed highly disruptive product and go-to-market strategies to secure leadership in the fastest growing segment of the storage industry. This success led to the company’s $1.4B cash acquisition by Dell in 2008. Don was previously the CEO of Trellix, a provider of widely-adopted web site publishing tools acquired by Interland (now Web.com). Earlier, Don was an executive at Lotus Development, where he led the creation of the channel and developer community that contributed to the extraordinary growth of Lotus Notes.
Don is a director and advisor to several venture-backed companies. He earned a BA at the University of Massachusetts and an MBA at Suffolk University.

Peter brings the powerful combination of a strategy consultant’s perspective and first-hand business leadership experience having co-founded, grown, and taken-public his own company
Born in the U.S. and raised in Austria, where Peter received his MBA and PhD from the Vienna University of Economics and Business and his BS in Computer Sciences from the Vienna University of Technology, he was determined to return to the U.S. Peter went to Harvard Business School and, upon graduating with distinction, joined The Boston Consulting Group. During his nine years with BCG, Peter focused his strategic consulting practice on the financial services and telecom industries.
In 1987 Peter co-founded MicroFinancial, and served as CEO until October 2002, having lead the company from its founding through a successful IPO in 1999. Under Peter’s leadership, the company took only modest seed financing and drove gross profit to finance business growth, a perspective he applies today while investing in early-stage companies.
At the IPO price, Peter and his team delivered a 35x gain (excluding dividends) to his first round investors. After numerous years as Chairman, Peter served on MFI’s board and its Audit Committee until the sale of the company in early 2015.
Chair, Emerson Hospital
Paul currently serves on the Investment Advisory Committee for Converge Venture Partners and has worked with both private and public technology companies ranging in size from early-stage to approximately $500 million in revenues. Paul has held the role of CFO, COO, and CEO at both private and public software companies and has been involved with all aspects of growing global businesses.
He was also previously on the board of Double-Take Software Inc. (NASDAQ: DBTK), where he Chaired the Audit Committee and was a member of the Governance Committee. He has held several board positions for private technology companies. Paul is currently the Chairman of Emerson Hospital and is also President and owner of two private businesses.
He was involved with Converge’s predecessor, CommonAngels, since 2005. Paul joined the Board in 2007 and was Chairman from 2008-2009.

Bob is CEO of PlumChoice and brings the power of experience and expertise derived from more than two decades leading and growing software and services businesses to market leadership positions. Bob’s well rounded background encompasses roles as CEO, President, COO and CFO of public and private technology and services firms including: TAC Worldwide, a technical staffing, workforce management and business services company; Atlas Venture, an international venture capital firm; Cerulean Technology, a computer software company and Chipcom Corporation, a network computing company.
Over the course of his career, Bob has architected growth strategies resulting in significant increases in shareholder value. He serves on the Board of Directors not only for PlumChoice, but also: Hercules Technology Growth Capital (NASDAQ:HTGC), which provides venture debt and equity to venture capital and private equity backed technology and life science companies; Constant Contact, Inc. (NASDAQ: CTCT), a provider of on-demand email marketing, event marketing and online survey solutions; and is Vice Chairman of the Bentley University Board of Trustees in Waltham, MA.

Joseph W. Alsop

Joe was the co-founder and until 2009 the CEO of Progress Software Corporation, a global supplier of application infrastructure software used to develop, deploy, integrate, and manage business applications. Joe led Progress from its founding to its position as a global software industry leader with annual revenue exceeding one half billion dollars. Alsop has over 25 years of management and technical experience in the computer industry. He also is a Venture Partner with Alsop Louie Partners, focusing on supporting early stage companies applying information technology in innovative ways.
Alsop received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and attended the Sloan School of Management at MIT.

As President, CEO and Founder of Fiksu, Micah builds on his experience as both an academic and entrepreneur to help lead and grow the organization. As a former professor of Computer Science at UMass Amherst, Micah’s deep knowledge of algorithms, combinatorial optimization, and statistics and probability theory is being applied daily in his work at Fiksu.
His prior involvement in launching four successful ventures has proven valuable in preparing him not only for how to build a business, but also for how to navigate the waters of the ad tech industry. Previously, Micah was CEO, president, and co-founder of Adverplex, a search engine marketing optimization company, and was also co-founder, president and board member of CourseAdvisor, which was acquired by the Washington Post Corporation in 2007.
His work at Fiksu has resulted in numerous personal accolades, including winning the 2014 New England Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
